A few things more or less becoming a doctor?

i am approching my gcse's and have decided i want to be a doctor!! firstly what subjects will i necessitate good grades in (naturally biology and chemestry)?
also when do you own to choose your specialty (oncology, endocronology, etc....)?
and when you are in medical school, no business what your specialty is, do you get taught 'the basics' (kiss of live, etc....)
and roughly from presently (next year are my a-levels) how long will it be for me to be a qualified doctor
Answers:
You should strive for As in EVERYTHING.. Not that that may happen, but if you don't nurture enough about your grades I would not want u anyone MY doctor. (I am an MD w grades amongst the highest in my class). You choose your specialty usually sometime contained by the 4th year of Medical school when a "match" is done. However, this "specialty" you choose may just be a stepping-stone to further sub-specialization. I don't know what you be a sign of by the "basics", but I would have to say :Of course! I be taught the "basics"! To be a "qualified" doctor usually means in actual fact being Board Certified in some primary thinking or specialty, which takes at least three years (for example for internal Medicine or Pediatrics or Family Medicine) after Medical institution to pass the Board test of your specialty (though lots specialties require 4 to 7 year or more residencies AFTER the four year Medical School, so you may not be "Board Certified" a long time after Medical school. You ARE a Doctor after medical school (MD), and you CAN practice Medicine if u outdo the USMLE board tests but will have a tough time getting contracts with Ins companies (HMOs)
