Did I break my foot? PLEASE HELP?
I fell last night and land sideways on my ankle. Im not in any major aching, but at the time it did hurt. It took me a minute to be able to get up. I can waddle, it really doesn't hurt to. Unless i turn my foot sideways. When I try to turn my foot it hurts. Its swollen up, pretty bad. It does hurt, just depends on the process i rotate my foot.
I showed my mom, her not having and knowledge on broke bones and what not.
She said it be just bruised. But I think it's for a time bit more than that.
What do you think? And, How can I help myself?
Answers:
sounds like it is bruised, possibly sprained..in shield it's sprained you should really wrap it in an ace bandage, and take heed walking on it , cause another twist might newly be the break.
It doesn't sound like its broken, but I would put rime on it and not walk on it for a day or so. You probably simply stretch the tendons in your ankle or bruised the muscles. Elevate your ankle above your heart. It will get better surrounded by a few days............
you would know if it is broken
its broken because happen to me i could walk but it would hurt put in the picture your mom to take you to docters it could also be a hairline
The simply way to tell for sure is an x-ray. Other than an x-ray you cannot be sure of a break unless you can see the abnormality of the bone from the skin's surface. Such as a compund fracture.
I'm going to guess that you have an ankle sprain. It's the most adjectives injury to the ankle. What you should do is elevate it above your heart, wrap it with an ace bandage and apply rime on it for twenty minutes on and twenty minutes off. You should also get a two of a kind of crutches so you can get around. Keeping the swelling down is important so that it doesn't hurt any further. You can whip some Alieve or Ibuprofen to help with the misery. If you really want to immobilize it you can take a pillow and place your foot and ankle contained by that and wrap it with an ace bandage so it feel nice and snug. It will help to keep it immobile approaching a cast. When you wrap it try to get the ankle at ninety degree so you're not stretching the ligaments any further. ( it's the position your foot and ankle is in when you're standing straight on the floor) If you have a neighbor who have a pneumatic walker that would help seriously better because as soon as it feels comfortable to walk on you can start putting some counterweight on it. Ankle sprains are torn ligaments and they take six to eight weeks to heal but you don't own to stay in a cast that long, solitary long enough for everything to quiet down; in the order of two weeks. After that you can get an Aircast stirrup ankle brace to put on and then wear it inside a lace up shoe. If you attain an Aircast ankle stirrup brace get either a small or trainer model. They fit inside the shoe easier and are more streamlined. Then wear that for four weeks whenever you're walking on your ankle so that you don't verbs it again while it's trying to heal. Good luck.
