How unpromising is a root waterway?

I am getting a root canal tomorrow (tuesday) for an abscessed lower molar. The dentist gave me antibiotics on saturday along next to percocet, 800 mg Ibuprofen and valium (to calm me before the root strait as I am TERRIFIED of dentists).

Please don't try to scare me but be honest. How bad is this going to be? And should I bear the Percocet before the appointment or stop it the night previously?
Answers:
ive gotten a root waterway and honestly there not that bad. you cant perceive anything during the surgery, it feels like in attendance just banging on your teeth next to that metal ****, when i got mine i was one and only a little soar for the day it happend and the subsequent day i was fine
You should follow your dentist's instructions on taking the percocet earlier surgery--give him a call if you aren't clear about them.

Really, this shouldn't be that desperate. Tell your dentist that you are worried about it being painful--sometimes a dentist have to decide whether you'd rather put up beside slight pain or walking around with novacaine mouth for a long time, if he know you are worried he won't take a chance at letting it wear sour.

With your mouth numb, you probably won't feel anything at all. If the shots he give you wear off, you may feel some sensation. A perfect dentist will see the pain in your eyes as soon as it happen (and maybe sooner) and will stop what he's doing and numb you again. The greatest discomfort will probably be from holding your mouth open for 30-45 minutes while the dentist works.
in addition to the first answer...

incline your hand if the anesthetic starts to wear off. that road the dentist will know if you're in pain. sometimes patients at my department make a face because of the boom and we misunderstand it as pain. so, it takes a bit longer since we stop and hold to ask if the patient is in twinge because they are making a face.

another thing... your mouth will attain tired from staying open too long. maybe you could ask for a bite block. adjectives it is, is a little rubber thing that will preserve your mouth open for you.

root canals are painless as long as you are numb. adjectives it really is, is getting to the nerves and pulling the out. after that, the dentist will just enlarge the canals and compress it with a permanent nourishing material called gutta percha.

expect a few xrays to be taken during this process. Source(s): Registered Dental Assistant!
